Today I finished this illustration. It is exceptionally beautiful, and I consider it to be one of my best. More importantly, however, I enjoyed every single moment of it (which is why it turned out so well, I believe; or is it merely that my perceptions have changed?). It seems that my theory works.
I really love this piece. It’s not technical, but the ideas are what count in it and even if others might not I really love the style. It has left the realms of realism and gone into art, which is something I have been looking for for a very long time.
It seems that in order to see, one must simply shut their eyes, and feel.
As it is, I would love to use it as the cover art for the book. But as a friend pointed out to me, it is quite busy, and I still love the other one a lot also.
As such, I am going to save it for a later edition of the book, much like how the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling had new covers painted for them even though the first were just as lovely (or even lovelier, as some might say). But this was when people were already familiar with the story, and so could make more sense of the more complex covers—this is much the same, and so, it will have to wait.
But its time will not be long, I believe. I am eternally thankful that it has turned out so well, and can only hope that I may approach my other works as easily.
